How do I know what I need to Build a new home or an addition?

You will need a Construction Permit Applicationfrom Construction Code.

You will need a Zoning Permit 

What will I need to accompany the zoning permit  LINK  (Coded Systems 1500)

Once the permit has been approved by zoning, we will send the permit and the

Construction Permit Applicationto the Construction Code Office.

The Construction Code Department will then contact you when their review is complete so you can pull the construction permits.

How do I contact the Planning / Zoning Office?

How do I know what zone my property is in?

Our Zoning Map is on-line for your convenience - See above section

How do I know the information on installing a shed and/or fence? Changing your landscape, concrete, pavers?

Please check with the Construction Code Office first to see if you will need a Construction Permit Application.  609-525-9179

  • If the fence is not used as a pool enclosure, and is not over 6 feet tall, then no construction permit is required.  If the fence is used as a pool enclosure or if it will be over 6 feet tall, then a construction permit is required.
  • A construction permit is not required for a storage shed unless it is 100 square feet or more in size. 
  • You will need a zoning permit.

How do I know how much the Zoning Permit will be?

How do I know how I can install or replace an HVAC unit or a Sign?
  1. You will need a Construction Permit Application from Construction Code.
  2. You will need a Zoning Permit  (see Zoning Forms above)
  3. Both Construction Permit Applicationsand Zoning Permits need to come to the Zoning Office at :  115 12thStreet, Ocean City, New Jersey  08226.
