City of Ocean City, NJ - Office of Emergency Management Special Weather Statement: 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022 The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Advisory in effect for Ocean City from 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1 through 6 a.m. Monday, Oct. 3. The forecast calls for at least three days of strong northeast winds progressively increasing tide levels. The NWS has issued a Coastal Flood Watch for Monday, when water levels are expected to peak. Rain throughout the weekend could contribute to flooding conditions. Water levels are predicted to crest in the hours around high tide on the bay side (Ninth Street Bridge) of Ocean City at the following times:
Visit www.ocnj.us/octides to compare this prediction to other recent and historic tide levels. Please be aware that heavy rains can cause flooding in places that do not typically experience tidal flooding. Residents should be prepared to move vehicles to safe places well in advance of these high tides. The roads closer to the beach including Central and Wesley avenues are typically at higher elevation. Parking at all municipal parking lots will be free (though residents should be aware that access to and from these lots may be limited during peak tides). Parking also will be available at the Trinity United Methodist Church at 20 North Shore Road in Marmora (please read letter from Trinity if you take advantage of this service). The public ramp at Tennessee Avenue will be open and free of charge for anybody who would like to take their boat out of the water. For your safety and the protection of your vehicle and neighboring properties, never attempt to drive through flood waters, and do not drive around barricades. For Police & Fire Department emergencies, call 911. For non-emergencies, call 609-399-9111. |
