Sept. 4, 2021 Dear Friends, The city administration met this week with representatives of Ocean Wind, the company seeking federal and state approval to construct a wind energy project off the shores of southern New Jersey.
I advised them that it is crucial that they set up a town hall meeting to update everybody on their plans, the status of their application, and provide substantive information regarding this project. They agreed to do so, and will have representatives on hand who will be prepared to field questions on various aspects of the project.
Ocean Wind is expected to announce details on the meeting shortly, and I will share them as soon as they are available. Throughout the course of this process, I have worked with the company to plan two previous town hall meetings in Ocean City and one series of virtual sessions.
The application is currently under review by the federal Bureau of Ocean Energy Management and the state Department of Environmental Protection. This upcoming town hall meeting will be about the project's impact on Ocean City and our region, and responding to all your questions and concerns. Warm regards, Jay A. Gillian Mayor |
