By the end of this week (Dec. 18), the contractor will have completed the next segment of slip-lining of the existing 20" diameter DIP with a new 16" HDPE pipe from 20th Street to 15th Street, and completed all the pipe connections at the 20th Street pump station. The pit at 20th Street and the disturbed concrete chamber at 11th Street will be backfilled and temporary paved.
Next week, the contractor is scheduled to start fusing enough HDPE pipe to make the final slip-lining push from 15th Street to the northern terminus of the project at 8th Street. Also, the three remaining concrete chambers that are evenly spaced between 11th and 8th Streets will be opened and prepared to receive the new HDPE pipe.
Over this weekend, Bay Avenue will be opened to two lanes of traffic with lane shifts around the open and secured push pit at 15th Street.
Next week, Bay Avenue will be opened to two lanes of traffic, except that it will be closed between 15th and 16th Streets during working hours to allow a staging area for the contractor to fuse the HDPE pipe. Also, single blocks will be closed per day between 11th and 8th Streets during working hours when the concrete chambers are being worked on. In both cases, local detours will be set up.
