Updated 10:45 a.m. Dec. 4, 2020
This week, the contractor has been cutting into existing concrete chambers between 20th Street and 15th Street to remove a segment of the existing 20" diameter DIP in anticipation of sliplining that portion of the pipeline. Over the weekend, the push pit at 20th Street will remain open and secure. Also, the roadway surrounding the concrete chamber that is located just south of Arkansas Avenue will remain unpaved this weekend. Next week, the Contractor will be fusing and staging the new 16" diameter HDPE pipe in preparation of pushing it through the existing 20" DIP.
Over the weekend (Dec. 5-6), Bay Avenue will be open to two lanes of traffic, except for lane shifts to avoid the open pit at 20th Street and the chamber lid near Arkansas Avenue. Next week (Dec. 7-11), Bay Avenue will be open to local traffic only between 18th and 14th streets with lane shifts around local work zones beyond those boundaries.
