The Cape May County Municipal Utilities Authority (CMCMUA) is replacing/rehabilitating the force mains that carry wastewater to the treatment plant on the bay at 45th Street. The work will be on 31st Street from Haven Avenue to Bay Avenue; and Bay Avenue from 31st Street to Eighth Street.
The contractor continued to make progress slip-lining the existing 20" diameter DIP line with a new 16" diameter HDPE pipe. This weekend, two push/pull pits on Bay Avenue will remain open and secure. One pit is located about 250 feeet north of 28th Street. The other pit is located about 250 feet south of 25th Street. Over the weekend, Bay Avenue will be open to two lanes of traffic with traffic control done with lane shifts around the open pits. During the week of Nov. 1, while work is south of 24th Street, Bay Avenue will be open to local traffic only between 34th and 24th Streets. Should work progress north of 24th Street, the local traffic only work zone will shift to between 24th and 18th Streets.
