During the past week, the contractor has cut and capped both ends of the existing 20" DIP force main. This line is now dead and flow is going through the new 20" PVC pipe. The tie-in pits at both 8th Street and on 31st Street have been backfilled and temporarily paved. The existing 20" DIP pipe is in the process of being drained, cleaned and videoed in anticipation of the start of slip-lining operations. This weekend, Bay Avenue and 31st Street will be opened to two lanes of traffic. Slip-lining of the existing 20" DIP pipe with a new 16" HDPE pipe is expected to begin next week and extend to mid- to late- June. Traffic control will be done with local detours and lane shifts.
