City of Ocean City, NJ - Office of Emergency Management Special Weather Statement: 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 28, 2019 The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Advisory in effect for Ocean City from 5 p.m. Wednesday (August 28) through midnight Thursday (August 29). A higher-than-normal new moon tides could cause minor street flooding on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Flooding also could occur with high tide on Friday evening. Water levels are expected to peak in the hours around high tide on the bay side of Ocean City at 7:25 p.m. Wednesday and 8:16 p.m. Thursday. Forecasters project a tide of 5.6 feet on the mean low water scale (MLW) on Wednesday and 5.8 feet on Thursday. This projection falls into the category of “minor” tidal flooding. Visit www.ocnj.us/octides to compare these predictions to other recent and historic tide levels. Residents should monitor conditions and be prepared to move vehicles from areas that typically experience tidal flooding. The roads closer to the beach including Central and Wesley avenues are typically at higher elevation.
