Traffic Maintenance is a critical component of the safe and orderly use of our roads for automobiles, bicyclists and pedestrians. Proper signage helps give direction and prevents accidents. Our team, in coordination with the Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit, constantly evaluates current signage, as well as potential new signage, in an effort to reduce accidents. Once identified, our team replaces old or deteriorated signage, such as stop signs, one-way signs and do-not-enter signs, just to name a few. Street and boardwalk striping (painting) is regularly evaluated and, if need be, reapplied.
In addition, Traffic Maintenance assists in storm preparation by setting up barricades in flood-prone areas.
