Ferko String Band to Perform Thursday, July 15th

OCEAN CITY, N.J.--- The world famous Ferko String Band will perform at 8 p.m., Thurs., July 15 at the Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace. Tickets are $12, available at the Music Pier Box Office, 609-525-9248.

 

Formed in 1922, the Ferko String Band has established the most successful record of wins in the history of the Philadelphia Mummers Parade.

 

The Band has strutted away with first place a record 20 times and placed in the top five an amazing 82 out of 88 parades. Today the band is as strong as ever with over 90 members ranging from 50 to 80 years in age.

 

From New York to France, New Orleans to Italy, Texas to Hong Kong and all points in between Ferko has wowed audiences with its unique music and costumes. The Band has a series of hit records including Alabama Jubilee, You Are My Sunshine, Ain’t That A Shame and That Old Black Magic.

 

Ferko was the first Band to perform in the Republic of Cuba (1959) and has appeared on NBC’s Today Show and ABC’s Good Morning America. The legendary mummers group has a long history of performances in Ocean City both on the Music Pier stage and its many parades.
