OCEAN CITY, N.J. ---- Highlight of this resort’s July 4th celebration will be a huge fireworks display shot from a barge off the 9th St. Beach. The exhibition will be accompanied by music from the boardwalk speaker system and can also be heard by tuning into WIBG radio, 1020 AM Ocean City.

The annual Air Circus kite flying contest will be held starting 5:30 p.m. at the 9th St. Beach. There will also be a concert on the Boardwalk by the popular rock band Tidal Wave while the kites are flying.

Prizes will be awarded to the most original kites, best decorated, highest flying, best stunt kite, smallest kite and other categories.

Two bike parades are scheduled for the weekend. The Garden’s Civic Assn. will hold its event on Sat., July 3 starting at the Longport Bridge. Registration is at
9 a.m., parade starts at 10 a.m. The South Ocean City Parade is set for Mon., July 5 starting at 40th and Asbury Ave. Registration is 9 a.m., parade starts
at 10 a.m.

On July 3, the famed Kauriga Balalaika Orchestra performs at the Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace, at 8 p.m. This group specializes in lively Russian and Slavic music and has been featured at the Academy of Music and other regional venues.
