OceanCity Announces 2010 Concert Series
Parking Discounts for Advanced Tickets
Ocean City, New Jersey –Ocean City and The Stockton Performing Arts Center announced the ninth annual Stockton Goes to the Beach Summer Concert Series today.
Tickets are on sale now and anyone who buys a ticket before the day of the show will receive a $2 parking discount good for one of the City’s boardwalk parking lots.
All concerts will be performed Monday’s in July and August at the historic Ocean City Music Pier and tickets are available at www.ocnj.us. Show times are 8 p.m. and tickets are priced at $25.
On July 5th, the concert series kicks off with the group Country Roads: The Music of John Denver & Dan Fogelberg. The group will perform songs from Denver’s canon, including: “Rocky Mountain High,” “Thank God I’m A Country Boy,” “Take Me Home, Country Roads,” “Annie’s Song” and “Sunshine On My Shoulders.” Dan Fogelberg’s songs include: “Longer,” “Leader Of The Band,” “The Power Of Gold” and “Old Lang Syne.”
Monday, July 12th, it’s the Ocean City Music Pier will break out the mirror balls when “Stayin’ Alive,” the ultimate Bee Gees tribute band plays all of the hits: “Stayin’ Alive,” “How Deep Is Your Love,” “Night Fever,” and “Jive Talkin’.” Break out the platform shoes and the polyester because “You Should Be Dancin’.”
On Monday, July 19th, it’s Jay & The Americans – a big voice, a big band with big hits. Their huge catalogue of hits include: “Come A Little Bit Closer,” “Cara Mia,” “This Magic Moment,” “Walking In The Rain,” “Only In America,” “She Cried” and “When you Dance.”
On Monday, July 26th, one of the most successful bands to come out of the 60’s – The Association -- have sold over 80 million records, tapes, CDs and DVDs. They’ve earned a number of achievement awards as well as 6 gold records and 2 platinum records. Their album, The Association’s Greatest Hits continues to be one of the longest best-selling albums in the history of the company. The Association will perform all of their hits: “Along Comes Mary,” “Cherish,” “Never My Love” and “Windy.”
On Monday, August 2nd, the summer fun continues with “Ricky Nelson Remembered” starring Matthew and Gunnar Nelson & The StoneCanyon Band. The show pays tribute to one of the most cherished and beloved artists of all time. His sons bring his musical legacy to life by playing all of Ricky’s hits: “Garden Party,” “Travelin’ Man,” “Hello Mary Lou,” “Poor Little Fool,” “Lonesome Town,” “I’m Walkin’,” “Fools Rush In,” “It’s Late,” “Young World,” “Believe What You Say” and “Stood Up.”
On Monday, August 9th, Winger, one of the best hard rock bands in the world will hit the boards! The band's two platinum albums, Winger and In the Heart of the Young, along with charting singles “Seventeen,” “Headed for a Heartbreak,” “Easy Come Easy Go” and “Miles Away” put the band on the top of the charts by the early 1990s. In 1990, the band was nominated for an American Music Award for "Best New Heavy Metal Band."
On Monday, August 16th, B.J. Thomas will sing his signature hits—the Oscar-winning “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ On My Head,” the million-selling “(Hey Won’t You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song” and his career-igniting cover of Hank Williams’ “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry.”
On Monday, August 23rd,celebrate 35 years of music with The Little River Band. Their hits include: “Lady,” “Reminiscing,” “The Lonesome Loser,” “Reminiscing,” “Cool Change,” “Take It Easy on Me,” “Help Is on Its Way,” “The Night Owls,” “Man on Your Mind,” “It's a Long Way There” and “Happy Anniversary.”The Little River Band is: Wayne Nelson (bass); Greg Hind (vocals, guitar); Chris Marion (keyboards); Rich Herring (lead guitar) and Mel Watts (drums). The band blends new energy and arrangements to the classic hits, making new memories for the audience out of each live performance.
A new parking discount program will provide a $2.00 discount towards the cost of parking at the City parking lots at 9th Street and Boardwalk North, 9th Street and Boardwalk South, Moorlyn Terrace, 8th Street and Boardwalk, 6th Street and Atlantic Avenue, and 5th Street and Boardwalk.
The discount coupons will only be provided to those purchasing tickets through the City before the day of the show. One coupon will be provided per transaction per show.
The Ocean City Pops, Stockton Concert Series, and Ocean City Theater Company all use these venues for performances and it is the goal of this program to encourage advance ticket sales for City sponsored shows and to stimulate business on the boardwalk.
